1 to 2 inches of new snow and still snowing lightly and temps in the 20's forecast is calling for snow on and off but no major snow maybe 4 to 6 inches. Snowmobile trails range from fair to very good downhill and cross country ski areas are in excellent condition. Sam

WESTERN U.P. TRAIL REPORT - 02/08/2010

Groomers will all be hitting the trails to get them back into  shape after the weekend traffic.
Could use some more snow, and the forecast calls for that possibility throughout the week.
Gogebic Range Trail Authority:  Groomers are out both day and night and all trails are being groomed
including 2-8-160-11N and 11S. Overall conditions Good-some very good, some fair.  corners may be icy
 - expect some crossings to be bare-use extra caution when crossing streets, roads and driveways.
>From the Lake Gogebic Area-Groomers are all out double grooming all trails.. trails range from good to very good. 
Watersmeet groomers are out and reporting trails are solid and conditions are fair to good.
And here's  good news for our Trail 2 East riders-the Marenisco Mini Mart is open and gas is again available there.
IN ALL AREAS:
Please slow down when riding through towns. We're starting to get some complaints
so let's nip it in the bud before it become a problem.
TOO MANY SERIOUS ACCIDENTS are in the news this year. Many are alcohol and speed related. 
We want you to have a great time on our trails here in Big Snow Country,
so please use your good common sense and save your drinking for after the ride.

ICE: Let us reiterate, there is no such thing as "safe" ice.
If you choose to ride on a body of water, be sure you check with locals in the specific area
you intend to ride and get current information on conditions in that area. When you ride on ice,
you are doing so at your own risk.

We had a number of snowmobilers ride in this weekend from other parts of the UP and for the most part trails good to very good. The only complaint I heard was 11N from South Boundry Rd to Wakefield was choppy. Sam

The best two months of winter begins NOW! Season Snowfall to date is 134.6". Looks like this weekend is offering up some great riding.
Gogebic Range Trail Authority:  Groomers are out both day and night and all trails are being groomed including 2-8-160-11N and 11S.
Overall conditions Good-some very good, some fair. With increased traffic, corners may be icy. Colder temps will improve the trails.

and PLEASE pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them.

SIGN VANDALISM RESULTING IN SERIOUS SITUATION
Expect to see more patrols on the trails due to a recent rash of sign vandalism incidents...we're hearing cameras also
may be enlisted in order to apprehend those responsible. If you see any suspicious activity, please call the DNR at 800-29

Customer trail ride

Talked to him again to see what he thought of the trails after 3 days of riding. He road mostly in Wisconsin toward Ashland and beyond and South from there and said the trails were awesome. Trails held up fine in the areas he rode even after the warm up and he couldn't be happier about the trails. Sam

Trail report

Talked to a customer that rode yesterday in Wisconsin and he said the trails were good to very good. He rode from Ironwood almost to Woodruff and for the most part they were good but getting thin the farther south. He then headed East and came back up to Michigan at Marenisco then back to Ironwood he put on 200 miles. Overall he said the trails were great and today he heading into Michigan so if I see him today I will ask him how the trails were and let you know. Sam
